To use Slovak motorways, it is required to purchase an electronic e-vignette before entering any toll sections.
Driving on motorways and expressways is subject to toll payment, while secondary and main roads can be used free of charge.
The toll payment obligation applies to vehicles with a total weight below 3.5 tons.
* If you are driving a vehicle over 3.5 tons (such as a truck, bus, or heavy vehicle), please use the emyto system to pay the required toll.
Types and Prices of Vignettes
The e-vignette is available for four different periods:
- 365-day e-vignette
- 30-day e-vignette
- 10-day e-vignette
- 1-day e-vignette
* If a vehicle under 3.5 tons tows a trailer, a separate toll payment is required for the trailer.
The road toll calculation will be displayed by the system after entering information regarding the vehicle and journey.
ℹ️ Online Purchase and Required Information
The road usage fee is paid online. Registering your vehicle takes only a few minutes. The required data are as follows:
- License plate number
- Country code
- Email address
- Mobile phone number
When placing your order (vehicle registration), you must provide the vehicle's license plate number and the country of registration, then select the start date and validity period of the vignette.
The system will request your email address and mobile phone number for contact purposes. Providing a mobile phone number is necessary because the confirmation link will also be sent via SMS, ensuring that you receive the confirmation even if there are any issues with email delivery.
Upon successful payment, the system sends a receipt and a QR™ SMS code containing the vehicle identification details and the validity period of the purchased e-vignette.
⚠️ Warning Regarding Suspicious Websites
Certain websites offer to sell road tolls by collecting bank card information without providing a valid e-vignette, which may result in your card details falling into unauthorized hands.
Unsuspecting travelers may face double risk: not only will they not have a valid e-vignette—resulting in possible fines—but their card information might also be misused.
It is recommended to avoid websites with incorrect or suspicious language.
⛔ Fines
The law (Zákon č. 488/2013 Z. z.) sets out the fines applicable for driving on a tolled motorway or expressway without valid toll payment:
- On-the-spot fine: if stopped by a police patrol, the fine is €50–200
- Automatic camera detection: if the violation is recorded by an automated camera system, the fine is €150–500
Here, through the customer portal, you can obtain the necessary toll payment confirmation online within a few minutes, which will be registered at the NDIS - Národná diaľničná spoločnosť, a.s. headquarters.
