To use Bulgarian motorways, it is necessary to purchase an electronic e-vignette before entering any toll road sections.
Motorways and expressways can only be used after paying the appropriate fee, while secondary and main roads can be used free of charge.
The payment obligation applies to vehicles with a total weight under 3.5 tons.
* If you are driving a vehicle over 3.5 tons (truck, bus, heavy vehicle), please visit the digitoll website for information on the required toll payment.
Types and Prices of E-vignettes
The e-vignette is available for four different validity periods:
- 1-day e-vignette
- 7-day e-vignette
- 30-day e-vignette
- 90-day e-vignette
- Annual e-vignette
* If a vehicle under 3.5 tons tows a trailer, a separate fee is required for the trailer.
The toll calculation will be displayed by the system after entering the required information about the vehicle and the trip.
ℹ️ Online Purchase and Required Information
Payment for road use is made online. Vehicle registration only takes a few minutes. The required information includes:
- License plate number
- Country code
- Email address
- Mobile phone number
When ordering (vehicle registration), you must provide the vehicle’s license plate number and the country where the vehicle is registered, then select the starting date and duration of the e-vignette’s validity.
The system will request your email address and mobile phone number for contact purposes. Providing a mobile phone number is necessary because the confirmation link will also be sent via SMS, ensuring you receive confirmation even if the email cannot be delivered for any reason.
After successful payment, you will receive a receipt and a QR™ SMS code containing the vehicle's identification details and the validity period of the purchased e-vignette.
⚠️ Warning about Suspicious Websites
Certain websites offer toll purchases while collecting your bank card details, but they do not provide a valid e-vignette, and your card information may fall into unauthorized hands.
Unsuspecting travelers may suffer multiple disadvantages: not only will they lack a valid e-vignette – which can lead to fines – but their card details may also be misused.
It is recommended to avoid websites with incorrect language or suspicious content.
⛔ Fines
The law (Art. 179, Art. 187a.) details the fines that can be expected if someone enters a toll motorway or expressway without paying the required fee:
- Camera detection: if the offense is recorded by an automated camera system, the fine ranges from €150 to €300
Here, via the customer portal, you can obtain the required proof of toll payment online within a few minutes, which will be registered at the National Toll Administration (BGTOLL) center.
