To use Hungarian motorways, the purchase of an electronic e-vignette is required, even before entering any toll section.

Motorways and expressways can only be used upon payment of a toll, while secondary and main roads can be used free of charge.
The toll payment requirement applies to vehicles with a gross weight under 3.5 tons.

* If you are driving a vehicle over 3.5 tons (truck, bus, heavy vehicle), please visit the HU-GO system for the required toll payment.

Types and prices of e-vignettes

The e-vignette is available for four different durations:

  • 1-day e-vignette
  • 10-day e-vignette
  • 30-day e-vignette
  • Annual e-vignette

* If you are towing a trailer with a vehicle under 3.5 tons, a separate toll payment is required.

The road toll calculation will be displayed by the system after you enter information about the vehicle and planned journey.

ℹ️ Online purchase and required information

The toll fee can be paid online. Vehicle registration takes only a few minutes. The required information is as follows:

  • License plate number
  • Country code
  • Email address
  • Mobile phone number

When ordering (registering your vehicle), you must provide the vehicle’s license plate number and the country of registration, then select the validity start date and duration of the e-vignette.
The system also asks for your email address and mobile phone number for contact purposes. Providing the mobile phone number is necessary because the certificate link will also be sent by SMS, ensuring you receive the verification even if email delivery is delayed or fails.

After a successful payment, the system sends a receipt and a QR™ SMS code containing the vehicle identification details and the purchased e-vignette validity period.

⚠️ Warning about suspicious websites

Certain websites collect bank card information while offering road toll purchase, but do not provide a valid e-vignette—and your card data may fall into unauthorized hands.
In such cases, unsuspecting travelers can face double disadvantage: not only will you not receive a valid e-vignette (which may result in fines), but your card data may also be misused.
It is recommended to avoid websites with incorrect language or suspicious content.

⛔ Fines

The law (Act LXVII of 2013) specifies in detail what fines may be expected if someone enters a toll motorway or expressway without valid payment:

  • Camera enforcement: if the violation is recorded by an automatic camera system, the fine ranges from €75 to €215

Here, via the customer portal, the required e-vignette toll certificate can be obtained online in just a few minutes, which is then registered in the database of the National Toll Payment Services Plc.
