To use Czech motorways, it is necessary to purchase an electronic e-vignette before using any toll sections.
Motorway and expressway sections can be used for a fee, while secondary and main roads are toll-free.
The payment obligation applies to vehicles with a maximum total weight of less than 3.5 tons.
* If you are driving a vehicle over 3.5 tons (truck, bus, heavy vehicle), please visit portal.gov.cz for information on the required toll payment.
Types and Prices of Vignettes
The e-vignette is available for four durations:
- 1-day e-vignette
- 10-day e-vignette
- 30-day e-vignette
- Annual e-vignette
* If a vehicle under 3.5 tons is towing a trailer, a separate fee must be paid.
The system calculates the toll based on the information provided for the vehicle and the journey.
ℹ️ Online Purchase and Required Information
The payment for road usage rights is made online. Vehicle registration only takes a few minutes. The required information is as follows:
- License plate number
- Country code
- Email address
- Mobile phone number
When ordering (registering the vehicle), you must provide the license plate number and the country in which the vehicle is registered, and select the validity period and start date of the e-vignette.
The system will also ask for an email address and mobile phone number for contact purposes. Providing your mobile number is necessary as the confirmation link will also be sent by SMS to ensure you receive the confirmation even if email delivery is unsuccessful for any reason.
Upon successful payment, the system will send you a receipt and a QR™ SMS code containing the vehicle identification data and the validity period of the purchased e-vignette.
⚠️ Warning regarding suspicious websites
Certain websites offer toll purchases while collecting bank card information, but do not send a valid e-vignette, and card details can be misused by unauthorized parties.
In such cases, unsuspecting travelers may face multiple problems: first, they do not have a valid e-vignette (which can result in a fine), and second, their card details may be abused.
It is advisable to avoid websites with incorrect or suspicious language.
⛔ Fines
The law (Zákon č. 13/1997) specifies in detail the fines that can be expected if someone enters a toll motorway or expressway without valid payment:
- Camera enforcement: if a violation is detected by the automatic camera system, the fine is 1,500–20,000 CZK
Here, through the customer portal, you can obtain the necessary toll payment confirmation online in just a few minutes, which will be registered in the headquarters of Reditelstvi silnic a dalnic CR (RSD).
